This Is the Coolest Way to Wear Your Jeans

I dont know what you usually do before a major outing, but for the stars attending the 2024 Oscars this past weekend, Im certain there was a lot of prep involved. Facials! Hair cuts! Hair treatments! You name it, they probably do it to look the absolute best from every angle on the red carpet.

I don’t know what you usually do before a major outing, but for the stars attending the 2024 Oscars this past weekend, I’m certain there was a lot of prep involved. Facials! Hair cuts! Hair treatments! You name it, they probably do it to look the absolute best from every angle on the red carpet. And while I’m certainly curious about what the A-listers do to get in tip-top shape, I’m just as much into what they wear for said pre-event outings. For Sofia Vergara, it’s a simple outfit I actually just wore this past weekend, too.

Before Vergara walked the 2024 Oscars red carpet in that cutout, bow-adorned, black taffeta gown with a plunging neckline and flared mermaid skirt, she was spotted in something decidedly more low-key the day prior: jeans and a black sweater. Ahhh, such “normal people things,” right? Right. Funnily enough, I wore that exact same outfit formula on Saturday and Sunday, making me realize the two-piece combo is a total must-try for spring. Why? Because it’s easy, looks elevated but is comfy, and can be styled in countless ways, depending on the look you’re going for. Brava, Vergara!

The actress opted for an easy-going black sweater with a baggier silhouette and simple crew neckline. She casually rolled up her sleeves, probably because it was slightly warmer in Los Angeles, giving it an even more casual touch. Vergara paired the trusty knit, a staple you can wear now and in two months, with wide-leg, medium-wash jeans that she — wait for it — cuffed at the hem. I did the exact same thing with my slightly-too-long-blues, and let me tell you, the folded over hem instantly makes your denim look 10-times cooler. Not to mention, Anne Hathaway is a fan of this style hack, too, and it’ll save you a trip to the tailor. It’s simply a win-win way of wearing your go-to jeans.

Vergara being Vergara wore her outfit with sky-high, break-your-ankle platform heels that I personally would never wear; instead, I styled my cuffed jeans with white sneakers, but TBH, our contrasting shoe pairings prove just how versatile the cuffed-jeans-and-a-black-sweater combo are. Both look great, and both are certainly worth trying out for yourself.
